Fall Essentials

  1. Dark nail polish – Fall means that it’s appropriate for me to break out all my dark nail polishes. Two are my favorites are Nic by Julep, a gorgeous wine color that came in one of my Maven boxes (get your first box free) and British Racing Green by Butter London.
  2. Moisturizer – I recently decided to take the plunge and see what Lush products are all about. Thankfully they aren’t located to close to me because I’d likely be in there way more than my bank account would prefer.  I find that as the temperature drops my skin gets drier, but moisturizers typically break me out. Lush’s Skin Drink is amazing and I haven’t had any issues with it breaking me out! The natural ingredients include sesame oil, rose petal infusion, fresh organic avocado and organic cocoa butter.
  3. Dark Lippies –  Neutral makeup and dark lips are my jam in the fall. Black Radiance Perfect Tone Lip Color in Plum Orchid and MAC’s Ruby Woo are two of my favorite dark lippies. I never truly bought into the MAC is the end all be all of makeup products, but Ruby Woo is a matte lipstick that is the perfect balance between warm and cool red and can work on nearly everyone. I’ve yet to find a drugstore dupe for Ruby Woo that I really love. So MAC you win!
  4. Natural Toner – I’m in the process of trading out some of my staple products with natural alternatives. Some of my favorite YouTubers have suggested using aloe vera juice as a natural toner. Lily of the Desert’s preservative-free aloe vera juice is certified organic and seems to agree with my skin, so it’s going on the essentials list.
  5. The Beauty Holy Grail – Coconut oil does everything. It’s not just a fall essential, but transitions into an essential for every season. Coconut oil is great for body scrubs (just add sugar or coarse salt), does wonder for my natural curly hair,  is a great makeup remover, body moisturizer, and a deep conditioner. The list goes on. I keep a jar in the bathroom and one in the kitchen.
  6. Fall Candles – Since my Seasonal Living: Fall into Fall post, I’ve added more fall scented candles to my collection.  Bath & Body Works’ Pumpkin Pie and Sweater Weather 3-wick candles. I’m always on the lookout for their two $20 candle sale because it’s hard to justify spending $22.50 on a single candle.
  7. Slouchy beanies –  At last count I had 20 beanies. It’s also possible Ace may have one or two of mine in her possession.  I wish my office was casual enough that I could rock them at work. You can find them just about everywhere now, but here are some cool options from Urban Outfitters: one and two.
  8. Flannel + sweaters – I love a good sweater over flannel combo. TheTrendySparrow’s slouchy “You had me at pumpkin spice lattes” slouchy sweater is perfect over the flannel of your choice.
  9. Suede footwear –  So now that you have a cute slouchy sweater + flannel combo you can rock with you favorite pair of jeans you need footwear. I love suede boots and pumps in the fall. Lulu’s has some cute options.  Check out these dark burgundy peep toe fringe booties and nude pumps.
  10.  COFFEE – Coffee lovers. I have a new obsession. Paramount Coffee Company has the most delicious seasonal flavors. The packaging is reason enough to purchase, but they really do taste amazing. Right now I’m finishing up Sweetie Pie: Pumpkin Pie, but I love the Pumpkin Spice and Vanilla Nut Cream. Check your local HomeGoods or T.J.Maxx where you can find them for only $4.99 a package. If Homegoods is a bit of a drive, Amazon now sells them as well.
