Spring Mood Board

Be intentional. Live life with purpose. See the beauty in everything.

I wrote that statement in my journal at the beginning of the year and return to it pretty frequently. I haven’t made a mood board since the fall, so I decided to create a spring mood board inspired my vision statement for the year.

Just a little reminder:

mood board:

an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc., intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept.

I’ve seen mood boards used in fashion, photography, branding, web design, wedding planning, and interior decorating.  It can include just about anything — photography, designs or illustrations, color palettes, textures, descriptive words — anything that helps you define the direction or feeling of your project. I plan to use my spring mood board to inspire my style and my creative endeavors this season.

Spring Mood Board Inspiration

Be intentional. I want everything I eat, create, read and wear to be deliberate. My 30 days of decluttering  is helping tremendously. I want everything I own and consume (physically and spiritually) to be intentional and getting rid of these I don’t  need is a great first step.

Live life with purpose. One of the first images I stumbled upon looking for inspiration was a One Tree Hill quote that I’m pretty sure Peyton said (OTH fans, fact-check me). I loved it and thought it fit perfectly with my vision statement.

See the beauty in everything. For me this is more of a message to slow down and enjoy the little things more. I’ve lived in Atlanta for four years now and there are still so many places I have yet to go explore.

Fall Mood Board – Creative Inspiration

Who remembers Ace’s awesome meditation mood board?  Well she inspired me to create my own fall mood board.

This fall I’m embracing my minimalism journey by focusing on simplicity. I hope my fall mood board inspires me to see the beauty in simple things. Additionally, I want to simplify my writing process. I think sometimes I try really hard to write blog posts on what I think will garner the most views. In reality, my most popular posts are the ones where I just wrote what I was feeling. Finally, my goal is to really enjoy the changing season and changes in life as well.

Carefree Summer Mood Board

Carefree Summer Mood Board -- The Palmetto PeachesSummertime, and the livin’s easy.

#WellActually summer livin’ hasn’t been easy for me since 2007. A carefree summer in middle and high school included 14 hours of sleep and eating every snack in the house. Repeat that same routine everyday until school was back in session. Those days came to an end when summer school, and working to support myself, slid into the equation. (I still squeezed in a few trips and/or music festivals.)

Here I am, Summer 2016 with a job (that’s full-time and not part-time like I applied for), 5 freelance clients, bridesmaid’s duties, planning/hosting my 10-year class reunion and a prospering blog. Oh, and I’m still trying to maintain a social life in 90+ degree weather.

This ain’t easy fam.

Don’t get it twisted, I’m very grateful for these projects. It was a very, very slow winter (and spring) for me. Yes, a four-day straight Netflix binge sounds glorious, but it wasn’t that great when I was  unemployed and bored. However, I won’t pretend I’m not counting down the days until my schedule is open enough for me to meditate at sunrise, dance on the beach all day, take a nap and listen to music until the sun rises again.

Oh how the times have changed.

My Carefree Summer 2016 Ingredients:
Silence: Queen of stillness, Oprah
Confidence: My sister-in-slay, Gabi Fresh
Music: The Blackbird herself, Nina Simone

For my carefree summer mood board, I chose pictures of women and quotes that give me all the vibes I need this season (and every other season). Hair goals, body goals, relationship goals, life goals. Yes, ALL the vibes.

Pinterest Meditation Mood Board

mood board: an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc., intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept.

When I decided to create a mood board on Pinterest, I really thought I was going to pin a bunch of pictures to show how I was feeling. After a little research, I realized I was wrong. Everything I searched had color themes, texture and most importantly–a mission to create something. Clearly, I could’ve still broken the “rules” because I do what I want haha, but I decided to follow through…kinda.

It was easy, but still hard to do Wordless Wednesday this week. I was tired, but had so many emotions and feelings to talk about. Between new and exciting freelance opportunities and spending the weekend in Florida with my best friends (and Beyoncé)–my thoughts were on fleek.

Being overwhelmed has me craving a beautiful meditation space. So why not create a mood board to help visualize it into existence?

What’s on my board

Green Chakra Stones

Green represents the heart chakra (Anahata). Opening the heart chakra brings forgiveness, acceptance and love. I know I’m not the only one who can use a little more of all 3 of those things right now.

Green Juice

Nothing says zen like a morning (or afternoon) green juice.

Green Space

Even though my allergies make me hate nature these days, I’d love to meditate outdoors. Some days I step outside and think, “I can’t believe I’m a part of this.” Waking up to a new day is one thing, but basking in the morning sunlight, or listening to the rain takes gratitude to another level.

Green Accessories

I rarely leave the house without a headband. Yes, even ones with flowers. Might as well get in meditation formation with a green headwrap, flowy dress and jewelry.

Why I chose the color green

Other than green being my favorite color, it relaxes me. I’ll leave this part to the experts. Jennifer Bourn (BournCreative.com) broke it down like this:

The color green has healing power and is understood to be the most restful and relaxing color for the human eye to view. Green can help enhance vision, stability and endurance. Green takes up more space in the spectrum visible to the human eye and it is the dominant color in the natural. It is a natural choice in interior design as an ideal background or backdrop because we as humans are so used to seeing it everywhere.

Pinterest is not cooperating with me right now, so if my mood board isn’t visible in this post please visit this link to check it out: Ace’s Meditation Mood Board.

Have you ever created a mood board? I’d love to see them, and hear your tips for making one.
