Friday Favorites: March On

We’re back!!!

Do you like the new look?!

It’s been weird not to post, but it was also nice to just take a break, brainstorm ideas, and connect with bloggers and companies. Since it’s the end of Women’s History Month and Melanin March (thank you Luvvie) and I want to talk about a few things I’m currently loving.

Friday Favorites – March On

Black Panther

Until Black Panther 2 comes out, Black Panther will be my favorite movie. Sorry. I’m not sorry. I’ve seen it a total of 4 times and would 100% see it again. Now I say this as a full-on, comic book reading, knower-of-stupid trivia, Marvel nerd. As hyped as I am for Infinity War and I am HYPE my Spidey senses didn’t start tingling until I caught glimpses of T’Challa, Shuri and the Dora Milaje (and Captain America but that’s a whole different reason) in the trailer.

Black Panther was more than a superhero/comic book movie. It was a cultural phenomenon.  Black Panther is now the second-leggiest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ever. This movie was an eye-opening revelation when it comes to the discussion of representation in Hollywood. More importantly, it was a love letter to black culture and a celebration of African culture that was greatly needed.

Irreplaceable You

Before I talk about this Netflix original, I just want to know why no one warned me about the first episode of Black Mirror. I’m scarred for life. FOR LIFE! I waited forever to start watching the show and now my eyes will never be the same.

To get over my Black Mirror trauma, I decided to watch something new in one of my favorite genres, romantic comedy. The issue is I was not prepared with tissues. This is more tragic love story, than romantic comedy. However, it is a good movie. I would just have tissues and some Halo Top on hand. As an aside, I keep getting tricked by movie trailers. I went to see Midnight Sun, thinking maybe I’d see a bootleg Everything, Everything, but found myself a little emotional by the end of the movie. I need to watch like 10 comedies to get out of my feelings.

Scandal/HTGAWM crossover

The Scandal/ How To Get Away With Murder crossover was everything I didn’t know I needed. Watching Kerry Washington and Viola Davis making classic Shonda speeches and reading each other for filth was great.

Skincare Products

I love makeup and I am completely satisfied watching  But skincare is becoming my new favorite. I blame Youtube and Reddit,  but I got sucked in the K-Beauty wormhole one day and I will never look back. The Korean skin care routine has like 177 steps (just ten really), but that’s a lot of products to buy. So I’ve been dipping my toe into the K-Beauty pool slowly. I have a full post on that coming soon. However, I wanted to shout out a few of my favorite products so far:

  • The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution -So I was a religious user of Pixi Glow Tonic, but purchased The Ordinary’s toner because it was less than $9, has like 2 or 3 times the product and I wanted to see if it would be a dupe. #ItIs. I still think Pixi’s Glow Tonic is really good, but if you’re a coin saver go with The Ordinary. P.S. It seems to be out of stock at Sephora and on their website , but if you really can’t wait Amazon has a few (though the price is drastically different).
  • COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence  – Sis, did you just say snail mucus? Yes, yes I did. Snail mucin has the ability to repair everything from dry patches, to acne breakouts while helping zap hyperpigmentation. Think of this like vitamins for your face. My acne scars have started to fade away
  • COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch – My skin hasn’t been misbehaving lately, but if I feel a little guy forming. I pop one of these bad boys and I usually the pimple is gone two days.
  • CosRX Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser – I don’t want to speak to soon, but this might be my new Holy Grail cleanser. What I’m learning in this K-Beauty journey, is that pH balance is very important. This cleanser is has a low pH formula, so it doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils, but still gets the grime and makeup off.
I swear this is post isn’t sponsored by CosRX. My skin just happens to really dig their products.

More of an honorable mention, but Dawson’s Creek (one of my absolute favorite shows) is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary!!

Entertainment Weekly brought the cast together for a reunion and my biggest takeaway:

Somewhere in the fictional universe Joey and Pacey are still together and in love!
