We quietly celebrated our one year blogiversary last month and we’ve gotten some new readers (Welcome!!). So we thought we’d slow things down today by adapting a popular get to know me blog tag for this fun get to know us post.
P.S. you should also check out our Meet The Palmetto Peaches video + 12 Things You Didn’t Know About The Palmetto Peaches.
Do you have a middle name?
Ace: My middle name is Anwar, and I was super embarrassed by it until my 20s. I was at a networking event, and this woman (who I met for the first time) told me I had a prophetic name. The meaning of “Cecily” (SEH-si-lee) is blind. The meaning of “Anwar” is light. Homegirl said I was born to lead the blind to the light. *mic drop*
Donni: Mhmm. It’s Kelsey. I appreciate my parents for pairing my unique first name with something basic. It made me feel slightly better that I could at least find my middle name on those personalized pencils and keychains back in elementary school.
How tall are you?
Ace: I say I’m 5’7″, and I also don’t think Donni is 5’8″. ☺️
Donni: 5’8” when I’m feeling myself. My license says 5’7” and the last time I was at the doctor, they tried to tell me I was shrinking.
Do you have any siblings?
Ace: I have 2 super dope sisters on my mom’s side, and an obnoxious amount of brothers on my dad’s side.
Donni: Nope, it was just me, myself, my pretend rice bag sibling (story for another time) and dozens of cousins.
What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve?
Ace: When people leave comments like “Cool!” or “Nice!” on a post. I do appreciate you for stopping by, but at least give me a full sentence.
Donni: You know what bothers me. The automatic responses on Twitter after you follow somone that pretends you’re their best friend and tries to sell you something: “Thanks for following. Visit my blog for [insert promotion here] and my [insert webinar here].” Pushy much?
What’s your biggest non-blog related pet peeve?
Ace: I have so many pet peeves that y’all might question my sanity and relationships. I will spare you, and choose one. To me, it annoys me when people text or post “GM” or “HBD”. An ex used to do that to me, and it drove me insane. I have a friend, who is probably reading this now and laughing, who randomly texts me “GM” just to get on my nerves. Petty.
Donni: Don’t laugh, but I think my biggest pet peeve is office-related. I really can’t stand stinky lunches and snacks. For example, I’m pretty sure there’s someone who puts fish in our toaster. Yes, I said toaster. Also when people burn popcorn and the scent lingers and wafts in the hallways. Stawpppp.
What’s Currently your favorite song?
Ace: Obviously, “Formation”. However, “Jimmy Choo” by Fetty Wap is a very, very close second.
Donni: Uh, I’m going to have to say Rih Rih’s “Work”. As soon as I hear it I want to start dancing.
What’s your favorite junk food?
Ace: Sour Patch Kids. I am counting down the days for the Easter edition to be released.
Donni: My braces have kept me from consuming a lot of junk food, but these bad boys will be off very soon so bring on all the yumminess. If I had to pick one thing though – maybe Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
Do you have a pet or pets? If so, what kind and what are their names?
Ace: Nope. I tried twice in college, and it wasn’t for me, but Baila (chocolate pit bull) and Callie (calico cat) are living happily ever after with families that have time and patience for them.
Donni: Yes, my cute little monster furbaby, Sgt. Pepper (yes, like the Beatles album). He’s a Shih Tzu and Pomeranian mix and seriously the most entertaining thing ever.
If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Ace: Fireball spiked coffee.
Donni: Vodka…but then I’d probably die. Coffee.. wait same result. Sweet tea…final answer.
What’s your favorite movie?
Ace: The Princess and the Frog.
Donni: “I could no sooner choose a favorite star in the heavens.” If anyone knows what movie that’s from – I already love you. Let’s be friends.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Ace: New Orleans. Yes, I’m Princess Tiana in real life.
Donni: Uh, depending on how the election turns out I may be moving for real. I’m thinking Italy looks great.
PC or Mac?
Ace: MAC. RIP to my MacBook, Chloe, she held me down from 2008-2015.
Donni: PC. But if someone wants to buy me a MAC…
What’s your go-to order at Starbucks?
Ace: Skinny caramel macchiato, usually with an extra shot of espresso.
Donni: Dirty Chai.
Can you cook?
Ace:
Donni: I prefer to bake, but yes I love cook. I’m looking for a Thai cookbook to experiment with.
What was the last thing you bought?
Ace: A Greyhound bus ticket!
Donni: Five bottles of wine. Don’t judge me there was some sort of mega-sale going on that I couldn’t pass on.
What blogger do you secretly want to be best friends with?
Ace: It’s no secret Necole Kane is my big sister in my head. Otherwise, I’ve been digging Trelani Michelle from So Fundamental. She meditates, and sages, and makes full-moon water…my future soul sister!
Donni: I just realized how creepy this question sounds. Probably, Sevi from Ware’s the Vodka. She commented on one of my recent blog posts and I had a fangirl moment. I love her blog, love her style and I love vodka.
